Only 3 months until Christmas, winter is coming and it's time for knitting socks, hats, mittens and scarfs. I love using the Icelandic wool, although it may sometimes need some care before knitting in a knitting machine. This time I have worked with Einband from Istex. I wind it up with wax, three times before it is soft enough to knit the lace pattern well in the machine. Although this is time consuming it is well worth the work. After washing out the wax and soaking the scarf in balsam the product has all the benefits of Icelandic wool and yet I find that it is soft and nice. I have knitted several lace scarfs all with the same motive from Stitchworld I, nr. 156. In order to prevent rolling of the edges I have added some rows of much simpler lace at the beginning and at the end of the scarf. For those using AYAB, remember to mirror the patterns before knitting.

The scarf is knitted on my Brother Knitting Machine. I knitted 4 rows stocking stitch, 12 rows of Lace 1, 800 rows of lace 2, again 12 rows of Lace 1, and finished off with 4 rows stocking stich, and cast loosely off.
