Its February and all Christmas presents where delivered a long time ago, and yet I have not found the time to insert and write about any of the designs made during the autumn months to give away at Christmas. Here comes one, fabulous for winter months birthday presents as well. I have enjoyed learning to use my new knitting machine the KH950 during the autumn and even have installed AYAB for a period of time, I will write more about that later. This time around I have made a very traditional fair isle hat, using one of the patterns that are built into the KH950 and I made quite many of these hats for Christmas.

Design: Fair isle hat

This hat is knitted on my Brother KH950 knitting machine with some nice soft suerwash merino yarn. I start with needles 86 L - 86 R and do a selvedge with tension 0 (3 rows). Then knit rib, knit the main part of the hat and waste knit. Gather the stitches onto a double thread, before tightening sow up the seam as this will be easyer to do before tightening in the top. Tighten to as tightly as possible (there will be a small gap at the top) and fasten all ends.
